Dollar and Risk Appetite Don’t Rally on Last Minute Deficit Resolution

It came down to the wire; but the US government pushed through an acceptable budget solution just before the country found itself in a technical default. Basic market reasoning would suggest that removing this immediate threat should have spurred translated into a rebound in risk appetite and allowed for a significant rally for the greenback. In fact, the opposite happened in both cases.
